OSPF debug pleads the Fifth

I don't have a functional install of Wireshark (or of any other sniffer/pkt analyzer) yet, but I was still hoping the debug command(s) would tell me something.


Logged on to a non-ABR backbone router, I wanted to see a Type 3 LSA arrive. I had two routers up and running in Area 1 but they were not connected yet. My plan was to connect them via Ethernet (their segment address is 10.3.3.0/24) and then see the Type 3 LSA announcing this network arrive at Router G (which is in Area 0, connected via token ring to Router F, the ABR to Area 1).


Well the LSA arrived well and fine, as the outputs of two sh ip ospf data commands shows; but I had both lsa-gen and spf debugging on, and, as you can see from the same console output, no debug info appeared.

debug ip ospf spf showed the output from a LSA Type 3
