I have made two attempts to delete the following images and upgrade to the newest image. The current running boot image is called "flash". The image release is in the Show Version. I get the following error when i try to delete the 2 cat4000 files. Of course i'm out of disk space to put the newest image on the switch. Thanks in advance for the help.

See the following Boot maker command. This wouldn't take. In ROMMON i'd issue BOOT and it would bootup the file name FLASH.

The images are deleted but you need to do a squeeze command to free up the space.
squeeze bootflash:
You can try dir bootflash: and show bootflash: after execute the squeeze command.

No problems during production?
SQUEEZE command is invalid
03-20-2009 09:22 AM
It is doing I/O on the disk, just like copying image into the disk, no reboot is required. I've done it during production before. If you company's change management policy is tight, then you should ask for a change window.

jerry

AHH....Hidden command. It is "squeezing" now.
Thanks guys!
Now, i wonder why it didn't accept the boot marker command?
03-20-2009 09:38 AM
The boot system command doesn't check for the software on disk. You can put whatever you want, but during boot up, if the image is not on disk, it will go into ROMMON if there isn't valid secondary boot statement.

jerry

Try adding or removing space after bootflash:/cat4000-i9s-mz.122-25.EWA11.bin.

There were no spaces after the image name. I added a space and still got "file not found". The switch has been rebooted a couple times just to make sure it wasn't already deleted and needed a reboot.
