We seem to have a real issue SSH'ing from one cisco device to another , it becomes real slow and even put in like characters that were not typed. We did not have this problem when we were using telnet only. Any seen this or have any ideas on what might cause this. It's a couple of 2800's and maybe 3-4 3560's and 3750's . We can get in its just real slow and we get some strange characters...

What IOS version are you using? Did you try using a diffrent IOS to test?

I am seeing thrashing messages in the 3560's for the SSH process so maybe this is a software issue , they are running 12.2.46SE crypto .

Glen,
Try changing to SSHv2.

Edison is right with the fix it is a bug on 12.2(46)SE with V1. Try using V2 or an IOS before that version.

Yup thats us to a tee . Question do all we have to is add the -v parameter when SSHing? Do you "have" to specify which ssh version in the config of the switch or router or can I just use the -v parameter when going from 1 cisco device to another .

You can also run
ip ssh version 2
also
do a show ssh
it will show you if you are connected version 1 or 2.

When acting as SSH Client, you need to -v option:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/security/command/reference/sec_s6.html#wp1031557
When acting as SSH server, you just need ip ssh version 2 command.

Hi,
I have faced the same issue.
When being connected to a device via console, making an SSH connection from that device to another.
It's realy slow.
When connected via telnet,SSH to a device, and making a new SSH conenction from there to another device, we didn't have this problem.
I think it was on a C4500 with 12.2(46)SE IOS.
Haven't found a solution for this problem. I assume it has something to do with the serial connection.
