3750 not booting up

Just got 2 x 3750 and I tried to stack them, that didn't work because of an IOS mismatch. I upgraded the IOS to c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE and erased the old version, now the switch does not boot up normally. I get an unusual prompt.

These are the files I have on the other 3750:

2 drwx 512 Mar 1 1993 00:10:47 +00:00 update

3 -rwx 2385 Mar 1 1993 00:44:53 +00:00 config.text

4 -rwx 24 Mar 1 1993 00:44:53 +00:00 private-config.text

5 -rwx 1048 Mar 1 1993 00:44:53 +00:00 multiple-fs

6 drwx 512 Mar 1 1993 00:06:43 +00:00 c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-

40.SE

How do I revive this 3750?

It's currently not in a regular IOS mode?

Hi Roni,

Let's check this link out.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_tech_note09186a0080169696.shtml

Let's go to rommon mode first.

Are you sure your switches are 3750-E?

Yes, I am sure, I have two 3750E stacked. I just tried to reboot and I get:

sh switch

Interestingly enough, when I do a "sh run" I see both 1/0/1-48 AND 2/0/1-48.

Why does "sh switch" show switch#1 as "provisioned"?

When I disconnect the stack and boot up that switch I get the following:

The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT

environment variable needs to be set to a bootable

image.

Hi Ron,

You're in ROMmon mode possibly because the switch IOS is either corrupt or missing. Do "load_helper" and followed by "flash_init".

Once you've done this, can you do "dir flash:" (please don't forget the colon at the end)?

Ron,

Here's the procedure to copy your IOS software via ROMmon:

Step-by-Step Recovery Procedure

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_tech_note09186a0080169696.shtml#topic2

switch: dir flash:

Directory of flash:/

2 drwx 512 update

5 -rwx 4281 config.text

6 -rwx 24 private-config.text

7 -rwx 11439675 c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE.bin

8 drwx 512 c3750e-universal-mz.122-35.SE5

512 -rwx 1048 multiple-fs

27500544 bytes available (29908992 bytes used)

The other 3750 (stack) has this c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE.bin

From the ROMmon, do the following:

"boot flash:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-40.SE.bin" and see what the error messages bring.
