NMS Assistance Required

Hi,

Can anybody help me which is a better NMS when deployed in enterprise environment Solarwids or Cisco works LMS. Secondly does LMS works on WAN.

Also please let me know does any of this NMS supports QoS monitoring. If not which NMS does this.

I have never used Solarwinds, but being a long-time supporter and developer of CiscoWorks LMS, I can say I find it to be quite feature-rich. You should definitely learn more about both products before making a decision, though. A good place to being on LMS is http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2425/index.html . You can also download a 90-day eval of our latest version.

Yes, LMS works on a WAN for many of its features. There is also a product called CiscoWorks QoS Policy Manager which can monitor and deploy QoS configurations. More on QPM can be found at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2064/ .

Thank you for your reply. Could you please let me know the answers for the following questions:

1) Does CiscoWorks QoS Policy Manager supports 6500's since I donot see much support on the url provided above.

2) Is CiscoWorks QoS Policy Manager a part of CiscoWorks Suite since it is not present in the featured products of CiscoWorks.

Yes, QPM supports the 6500 series. See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_qos_policy_manager/4.1/device_support/table/QPM41Dv.html for the QPM 4.1 device support list.

QPM is part of CiscoWorks, but not part of LMS. It is is separate product in the CiscoWorks family.

It seems LMS is well well supported in the forums (excellent work from jc) but QPM doesn't seem to get the same attention. I'm finding QPM a very difficult product to work with due to many issues with the user interface (regular error messages with no description as to why). LMS is certainly a comprehensive product although it does have it's limitations.

QPM I'm not so sure of,
