Hello,

I've just installed a new 100mb nic card, Part is "Cisco PIX-1FE and when the pix boots up, it seems to recognize it but says it's disabled.

Anyone know how to enable the new interface?

Cisco PIX Firewall

Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(5)

Licensed Features:

Failover: Disabled

VPN-DES: Enabled

VPN-3DES-AES: Disabled

Maximum Physical Interfaces: 3

Maximum Interfaces: 5

Cut-through Proxy: Enabled

Guards: Enabled

URL-filtering: Enabled

Inside Hosts: Unlimited

Throughput: Unlimited

IKE peers: Unlimited

This PIX has a Restricted (R) license.

Additional 1 interface(s) is(are) disabled

Looks like I might need to buy the license for it? Is that correct?

Then you need unrestricted license or you could look at using 802.1q on one of your interfaces and have subinterfaces ie. note that maximum physical interfaces = 3 but maximum interfaces = 5.

Does the new card take the physical number of interfaces to 4 ?

If so then yes you need to get an unrestricted license.

Yes, it takes it up to 4 physical interfaces now..
