Hi All,

Write erase, delete vlan and reload not taking the switch to the default settings. What needs to be done additionally?

delete the startup config in NVRAM.

delete vlan.dat.

reload.

If it doesnt work, you can return it to pre-factory settings by smashing it with a hammer.

For the VERY security concious (aka paranoid):

1. format flash:

2. reboot

What default settings do you have in mind?

When performing write erase you are deleting the startup config so when you reboot you should be prompted to configure the switch for the first time.

Deleting the vlan.dat will eliminate any Layer2 Vlan information on the switch.

Can you explain what you see on the switch after performing the steps outlined that you are expecting?

Have you tried deleting the vlan.dat file within the memory?

Do a "show flash:"

then "delete vlan.dat"

reload your device.
