Unanswered Question

Hi,

I would like to configure HSRP with 2 routers and a switch I have. The routers are 2620's which only have one ethernet port, can I practice HSRP with these at all, not sure if I can use a loopback or not?

Thanks

I have this problem too.

Hi:

You can configure HSRP with what you have. You dont need loopback interfaces.

R1

interface GigabitEthernet0/1

ip address 138.69.164.251 255.255.252.0

standby 20 ip 138.69.164.250

standby 20 timers 3 6

standby 20 preempt

standby 20 priority 105

R2

interface GigabitEthernet0/1

ip address 138.69.164.252 255.255.252.0

standby 20 ip 138.69.164.250

standby 20 timers 3 6

standby 20 preempt

Thanks, this worked.

The router with "standby 20 priority 105" is this the main router as it always takes the active role when both routers are on?
