Hey Guys,
I have a DS3 from SLC to the UK. My guy in the UK swears he's only getting like 1.5 Mbps from the connection.
Anyone know a way to verify that it is indeed a DS3 and that the ISP isn't wrong some how?
The interfaces on both sides are up and there are no errors, both are configured for DS3 bandwidth.
thanks,
Brent

SLC? (Salt Lake City?)
If the DS3 has high (distance based) latency, and if the 1.5 Mbps is seen in TCP flows, it's possible the receiving TCP host's TCP receive windows is too small. (Ideally size is for the BDP.)
To verify the bandwidth, you might try one of the various bandwidth test applications (many simple ones are free).

the best testing bandwidth software is IPerf, bar none. You can modify the window size to whatever to see fit for your test and that it supports multicast as well.
