7200VXR with NPE-G1 crash

Hi all,

I have had a Cisco 7206VXR with NPE-G1 router running 12.4(22)T AdvIP Serv. crash twice in the last week. My syslog indicates a memory allocation failure / no memory error. The router runs a full BGP table. I was hoping somebody could point out quickly if there was a known issue with this configuration or not. I am investigating Bug reports and using output interpreter as well as egaging TAC but if anyone can offer some rapid thoughts, i would appreciate it. Many thanks in advance.

Hello Craig,

the router should be fine for this job.

is it learning a single full table from a single ISP ?

Do you see free memory reducing over time (some process not releasing memory) ?

This could lead to a a software bug.

or it might be hardware related there is any indication in the crash info about the pointers values at the moment of crash?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Thanks for your response. My error seems to revolve around memory fragmentation which causes an out of memory issue and stops everything. I have pasted the syslog messages below for reference. I cannot find any known bugs so it may be new. I will be watching the memory over the next 24 hours to see if I can find why or what is happening to the memory.
