I am trying to upgrade a Cisco 871 from advsecurity ios to advipservices to support eigrp configs. I have tftp set up. I can ping the router from the Laptop and vice-versa. The trouble is, I keep getting this error msg - %Error opening tftp://<ip add><imagefile>(time out). If this was a memory issue, I would at least expect to see it begin the download process and then stop due to insufficient memory. Any ideas are welcome.

Cheedy,
Make sure that your security settings allow for files to be downloaded from your TFTP server. Also check to make sure that any firewalls installed on the PC will allow TFTP.

This error message means that the router can't see the file or filename incorrect.
Can you post the name of the file and your syntax?

What's your default TFTP directory and is the IOS in that directory?
