NAM installation issue/question

We have just installed 4 NAMS in 2 pair of switches. (65xx, CATos 7.6.7) only 1 of the 4 can see its parent swtich. The one NAM that can communicate with its parent has a line in the nam config:

netflow device 127.0.0.11 m***** (correct snmp community string)

I tried adding this line to the other three NAMS from the command line and it failed with the message cannot change supervisor address.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Make sure that the NAM's IP address is in the same VLAN as sc0 on the Sup. Also, make sure if you have an ip permit list configured on the switch, you are allowing the internal IP of the NAM. For example, if the NAM is in slot 5, the internal IP is 127.0.0.51 (i.e. 127.0.0.X where X is module no. * 10 + 1).

Working NAM environment:

NAM address 10.xxx.yyy.52/29

SC0 address 10.xxx.yyy.54/29

L3 address 10.xxx.yyy.53/29

the NAM config also has that extra config line pointing to the sup address.

Non Working NAM

NAM address 10.xxx.yyy.44/29

SC0 address 10.xxx.yyy.46/29

L3 address 10.xxx.yyy.45/29

All we are trying for right now is mini rmon...

And the ip permit configuration on the switch is allowing the NAM to poll it?

Thats just it. Nothing on either!

In the switch information block here is what i see on the one that works:

Switch Information

Performing SNMP test from NAM (127.0.0.41) to switch (127.0.0.11)

which makes sense..There is nothing in the l2 or l3 with a permit of 127.x.x.x

the only thing i can find is that 1 line of code..

Please post the show tech from one of the failing switches and NAMs.

the nam show tech and the 6500 l2 show tech attached.

You have an IP permit list configured, but you're not allowing the NAM's internal IP. Add:

set ip permit 127.0.0.41 snmp

Then the NAM will be able to poll the Sup.

and thats the issue with the other 2!

THANKS
