Hi~

Chassis is composed of below module.

Chassis = C4510R

Slot1. WS-X4516

Slot2. WS-X4516

Slot3. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot4. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot5. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot6. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot7. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot8. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot9. WS-X4148-RJ-45

Slot10.WS-X4148-RJ-45

When above case run, status of slot10 is "Not Support".

Command is used "show module"

I am wondering why slot10 isnot support.

I think that because Backplan but I don't know well.

Hello Kwangwon,

it can be a question of power budget.

What happens if you remove one of the linecards for example the one in slot 3 ?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi~ Giuseppe

C4510R' capacity is 136Gbps and WS-X4516' swiching capacity is 96Gbps.

So isn't it possible ?

When I tested linecards it is good.

Hello Kwangwon,

I was meaning power consumption of modules not bandwidth or backplane issues

check with sh power

Hope to help

Hi

The 4516 has 96 1Gig Channel to support the line cards. 6 Are used per slot. Both 4516 borrow theirs uplinks from these 96 Channels. So the slot 10 can a maximum of 2 gig use. So only the 4502 line card can be used in this situation.

The 4516-10GE is different it has 96 Channels for the line cards plus the 10gig uplinks. But you have decide between the 4 1gig ports on the 4516-10GE sup exclusive or the slot 10.

Hello Kwangwon,

The following note can you find at the “Release Note for the Catalyst 4500 Series Switch” see the link below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_5184.html

Contains:

When you use Supervisor Engine V in a Catalyst 4510R or 4510R-E chassis, slot 10 (FlexSlot) only supports the following linecards: the two-port GBIC (WS-X4302-GB) and the Access Gateway Module (WS-X4604-GWY). Supervisor Engine V-10GE has this same restriction when you configure its uplink select mode to all. Supervisor Engine V-10GE supports all Catalyst 4500 Series linecards in slot 10 when its uplink select mode is configured as tengigabitethernet or gigabitethernet. Supervisor Engine 6-E supports all Catalyst 4500 series linecards in slot 10.
