Hi all, when we talk about networks and subnets, if I had network 10.112.0.0/16 , would my subnet then be called 10.112.1.0/24 ?

Hi,

yes, it would be one of the many subnets.

If you want to subnet 10.112.0.0/16 into subnets of /24, then you would get:

10.112.0.0/24

10.112.1.0/24

10.112.2.0/24

10.112.3.0/24

10.112.4.0/24

...

10.112.255.0/24

HTH,

Dario

my point was more about the terminolgy

would the main number asigned to me be the network?

and the divisons be classed as subnets ?

Strictly speaking, 10.112.0.0/16 and 10.112.1.0/24 are *both* subnets.

They're subnets of 10.0.0.0/8.
