7960 and 7940 phones will not complete power up sequence with AC Adapter

I have 1 each 7960 and 7940 IP phones that I recently purchased from two different sellers on ebay. I purchased 2 ac adapters from a 3rd seller. All were advertised as operational. I'm not naive enough to believe that both phones are not both bad, however, I find it strange that both phones hang in the POST process at the same spot (Neither phone will establish a link with a known good switch either - no link light at all on the switch). They both hang at the Cisco Logo with the copyright information above. Neither displays anything beneath the logo (ie "Configuring VLAN", "Configuring IP", etc.). I have not used phones with AC adapters before. I've only used them in a POE environment (which I do no have available now). I'm wondering if this is something someone has seen before. Thanks.

You should factory reset the phones, to do thta donwload FW to a TFTP server, press # while powering on, release when prompted, press 123456789*0#, phone will reload FW.
