Processes memory overload

Hi experts, i have 871 with IOS 12.4(24)T advIPservices. flash memory is 28MB and the proc memory is 128MB.

The problem is that the free processor memory decreases and after some period of time (2-3 days) the router is overloaded. After restart, the router works for 2-3 day until the memory is feld up again.

I saw that the reason is in Chunk Manager who is increasing its "holded" memory all the time. The outputs from "sh proc memory sorted" is:

Alfacont#sh proc mem sorted

Processor Pool Total: 52835760 Used: 36847276 Free: 15988484

I/O Pool Total: 12582912 Used: 3539584 Free: 9043328

Can somebody tells me what is the reason of this incrementing of the Chunk Manager memory and how can I solve it ? Thank you!!

Hi,

We have the same issue on our 3845 Router, did you already find something about that problem ?

Reagrds,

Hi, yes i resolved the problem. I opened a TAC request

and after 2 weeks of troubleshooting we found that it is a

IOS bug. It was fixed in next IOS version. This could be caused from many things, but in my case it was from NAT rules when i use extendable word at the end of the rule.

ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.22.144 5144 x.x.x.x 5144 extendable
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.22.144 5144 y.y.y.y 5144 extendable

I sudgest you to downgrade or upgrade the IOS.

I hope i helped!

Best Regards,
