What would be the issue?
We just run defragging and running integrity checks in one of the store and I got one issue in one unity mailbox. When login to that mailbox, it prompted with a message "Your messages are not available now" but it seems that it can setup the vM and checking the old messages.
Also, it can not receive new messages.
I have the same mailbox in that store and it is working fine.

Yes, this can be done for 5.x as well. This is most likely a permissions issue. Make sure that the user is set to inherit on the security tab within AD and that the unity accounts are listed on that account as well.
