Problems setting the escape-character in IOS 12.2(50)SE on Cat2960

I'm having problems with setting the escape-character on the console and the vty lines using the cli on a 2960-24TT-L running 12.2(50)SE.

Here's a sample:

Switch(config)#line con 0

Switch(config-line)#escape-character 27

^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Is there another way of setting the escape-character to the ESC key or has Cisco introduced a new bug in the latest IOS release?

Luckily, I haven't upgrade any of the other switches and they are still running 12.2(46)SE and setting the escape-character there goes without any hickups.

Trond.

Hello Trond,

I think that it is bug related to "CSCsy59228" if it works Single character of number from 0-9.

-----------------

CSCsy59228 Bug Details

Escape-character broken for more than one character 12.2(50)SG.

Symptom:

Cannot use more than one character under 'escape-character' feature for Cat4500 in release 12.2(50)SG

Conditions:

Release 12.2(50)SG, 12.2(50)SG1

Workaround:

None.

Further Problem Description:

Single character works. We can use a number from 0-9.

-----------------

Therefore, you need to downgrade to a non-affected version of this code.

Thanks, Tomoyuki.

I guess we have to wait for the next release, but the inability to set the escape-character in IOS 12.2(50) isn't critical in my case.

Trond.
