I am trying to get a better understanding of the campus qos and after reading several things on this, I am afraid I have to ask some questions about it:
Below is a standard cos to dscp map:
mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 32 46 48 54
I have tried to find the different values (for example voice is 46), but cannot find what each number is associated to(what is 0? what is 8/).
Can someone elaborate?
Also, my understanding is that typically you trust cos for layer 2 and trust dscp for layer 3, correct?
What designates the ingress and egress port?
Can't all ports be considered both ingress and egress?
The uplink port to the router passes traffic both ways as do the interfaces on a switch.
Does a switch port have a total of four queues, two ingress and two egress?
Our 6509 has the following config on the ports for workstation/phones:
wrr-queue cos-map 1 1 1
wrr-queue cos-map 1 2 0
wrr-queue cos-map 2 1 2 3 4 6 7
wrr-queue cos-map 2 2 5
Which would indicate only two queues are being used, is this correct?
