Hello
We are using lots of multicast video streams and our actual network architecture is completly insufficiant.
It's not very esay to get information about video multicast ability of the different part of hardware so I may need some help.
We planned to use from 500 to 1000 streams at 2.5 Mbps, these streams will be split on multiples VLAN and each piece of hardware that produce the streams is only gigabit, so no needs of 10Gb for the moment.
Video network could be isolated but we need to plug some 100Mbps STB without breaking everything.
My first plan was to use a 3750 to handle all the multicast traffic and route STB traffic (less than 20 streams at a time) through our actual router.
But the reseller says the 3750 will not be powerful enough to route the traffic through the different vlan and offer me to use a 6500 chassis with 720 fabric card.
Don't need to say that the price is important and the second solution is lot more expensive.
Do you have any advice to handle this kind of video multicast traffic?
Thanks
