Hi,

Please clarify exactly what you're trying to do, what products, versions you're using, etc. Not sure what your question is...

Brad

we are trying to move the user from top floor to the bottom floor so their phones would be disconnected and also moved to downstairs room but the whole configuration wouldn't change.

We are using Cisoc Unity & call Manager version 6.

I was just wondering if we disconnect the phone from the port they will shutdown and after we re-connect it back downstairs would it lose all the users voicemails.

No, voice mail storage is completely independent of phone location. You will not lose voice mail - messages are all stored on Exchange/Domino.

Hope that helps,

Brad

Would like to know if lets say, if User-A has extension 4001 and we moved him to a different extension numbeer 4005 and a new User-B is give the extension 4001 now.

Would the voicemail for User-A be lost on who was on extension 4001.

The voice mails won't be "lost". They'll still exist in the mailbox for 4001. If you change the extension to 4005 in CCM, you're going to need to make the change on the Profile page of the subscriber in Unity to 4005 as well. Otherwise, they're going to be sent to the wrong mail box.

Brad

So how would User-A who is moved to new extension 4005 access his/her old voicemail (as you said that you won't lose the voicemails) which were on extension 4001 which is now assigned to User-B.

There is a user account out in Active Directory, which is tied to their mailbox. When extensions are changed in Unity, this does not modify the location of their mailbox.

User A x4001 lets call him John, is changed to x4005 in BOTH CCM and in Unity. Unity will not allow duplicate extensions, so be aware that 4005 cannot belong to anyone else before assign it to John. It won't let you.

When John has his new 4005 extension in both Unity and CCM, he presses the voice mail button, Unity recognizes that 4005 is tied to John and sends him to his mailbox. Think of the extension as basically a logical mapping to the mailbox. Make sense?

Brad

Thanks for your help. I will try with one user and see how it goes.
