so what's up with this device. I am trying to come up with a reason why I would ever deploy this and i just cannot.

My understanding it's not a physical device, but software. It enhances the capabilities of the software "switch" used by VM Server. So just as you might want to use a more feature rich physical Cisco switch rather than Brand X, you now have a similar option with the virtual switch used by VM.

Hum. Need some reasons ?

- Have you ever moved a VServer with QOS or security settings using Vmotion to another ESX Server ?

- Have you ever moved a VServer within Vlan X to an ESX server in Vlan Y ?

- Have you ever wanted to know how many bytes/bits a VServer generated ? (and not all VServers on an ESX port)

- Ever want to manage the "vswitch" inside ESX yourself and not the server team ?
