Hi,
We have an ASA 5510 we are looking to install CSC-SSM for SPAM filtering.
We have a few questions:
1. How do you integrate this with MS Exchange.
2. How does software work with the licensees requires, does each mailbox require 1 license?
3. Is there away of moniting the licencses.
Once the module is install does it add a component to the ADSM?
4. How much mememory is required for around 100 to 200 users. we only have 256mb
Many thanks

Hi,
Q:How do you integrate this with MS Exchange?
A:Using ASA & CSC-SSM every smtp traffic that passes through the ASA will be sent to CSC-SSM, the email will be checked against policy in CSC and will be delivered to MS-Xchange. You don't have to configure anything in MS Exchange.
Q:How does software work with the licensees requires, does each mailbox require 1 license?
A: CSC-SSM license is per user license. Depending on model by default 50 users license is available with CSC10-SSM purchase. Additional license is required to support more users. Default mode doesn't support SPAM Filtering and Antiphish. Additional ASA-CSC10-PLUS or ASA-CSC20-PLUS license is required for Antispam and Antiphish feature.
Q:Is there away of moniting the licencses?
A: Yes, the summary page of CSC-SSM shows the Base License Notice and Plus License Expiration Notice.
Q:Once the module is install does it add a component to the ADSM?
A: Yes, the module will be in ASDM, but unlike ASA or AIP configuration, it will open in browser and you have to configure it via browser, similar like configuring Trend Micro Interscan.
Q:4
A: Cisco ASA 256MB DRAM, but the CSC-SSM module has 1GB RAM if it is CSC10-SSM and CSC20-SSM has 2GB DRAM.

Thanks for you help, was really helpful⦠just couple more question regarding licensees.
Do we purchase 1 license per mailbox or 1 license per email address? We have 100 mailboxes, but each user has 2 e-mail addresses therefore 200 email address.
Also if we do somehow go over the allocated licenses how will this effect the spam filter?
If we reach th 500 with the csc-10 or the 1000 with the csc-20. What are the options of upgrading to more licenses. Could we buy a second module?
Can we forward filtered e-mail to a junk folder?
