I am trying to add a gateway to my CM ver 6.1.2.1000-13. I set the MGCP 2801 Gatway in the CM and configure the router but it does not register. The router can communicate fine with the CM.

Make sure that in CUCM you have the gateway defined like you see in this output:

"show ccm | i Domain Name"

As well, make sure you have 'isdn bind-l3 ccm' on your Serial 0/0/0:23 interface, and that your controller has 'pri-group time 1-24 service mgcp'.

If it's not a PRI then you should make sure the FXO/FXS port has 'service mgcpapp' under the dial-peer voice x pots dial peer.

Otherwise, check 'show voice port summary' and 'show voice call summary' to see if the port is in a bad state.

try changing this to IP

mgcp call-agent CCM01

make sure in CUCM it's hostname.domain.com if you have it configured in the router

try a no mgcp/mgcp

Hi Ron,

Just to add on to the great tips from Java (+5 points today Java - Happy Friday :)

The Domain name issue is outlined nicely in this doc;

MGCP Gateway Registration Failure with Cisco CallManager

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_tech_note09186a00805a316c.shtml#prob

If the IP domain name is configured in Cisco IOS on the MGCP gateway, enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) in the Domain Name field.

In the example: test and cisco.com represent the hostname and domain name respectively. If the IP domain name is not configured in Cisco IOS on the MGCP gateway, enter only the hostname of the MGCP gateway in the Domain Name field.

You would enter test.cisco.com (in CCM)

Hope this helps!

Rob

Thanks for the help but it did not fix the problem. I confirmed that the gateway did not have a domain name and that the CCM01 did resolve in the right IP address.

Primary Registering with CM CCM01 (172.16.101.5)

I then added a Domain name to both and it still would not register.

I know that the Gateway is resolving the host name to the right IP. How does the CM resolve the domain name back to the gateway?

I am using Call Manager Business Edition is there a limit to the number of Gateways that it can have. I have. I have seven H.323 gateways and I am trying to set up my second 2801 MGCP gateway?

I also restarted the Cisco RIS Data collector but it did not help.

Do a debug mgcp packets and then conf t no mgcp, mgcp

The debug commend will show the registeration process of the GW. If you see 200 response then the Hostname is ok if you see 500 check the hostname of the GW against the name in the GW config. in CCM. Also check whether you have ip domain-name? configured in the GW if so remove it

This is the debug output and I am getting a 500. I changed the hostname in the GW to RONS and the Domain name to RONS but it did not change.

I had to add the service mgcpapp under the dial peer for the FXO port
