Could someone tell me how to configure ntp on a 876w ?
My problem is that the router will synch the clock at startup, but at this time the internetconnection is not aviable, because the dialer is not up:
Installed image archive
Cisco 876W (MPC8272) processor (revision 0x300) with 118784K/12288K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID xxxxxxx

1 ISDN Basic Rate interface
1 ATM interface
1 802.11 Radio
128K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
28672K bytes of processor board System flash (Intel Strataflash)
Translating "0.de.pool.ntp.org"...domain server (62.72.64.237) (62.72.64.241)

For unknown reason, Cisco has disabled NTP on the 850/870 series routers. Use SNTP as an alternative.
sntp server
Hope this answers your question.

NTP works on the 870 series. I do not know about the 850 series.
I have it working on an 877 (Advanced IP Services IOS 12.4(15)T8).
To the original poster, try entering the commands as:
conf t
ntp server 0.de.pool.ntp.org
exit
It may not synchronise immediately, but you can check the status with the 'sh ntp status' command, e.g.:
Cisco-877#sh ntp st
Clock is synchronized, stratum 3, reference is 213.249.66.35
nominal freq is 250.0000 Hz, actual freq is 250.0693 Hz, precision is 2**16
reference time is CD96900A.FBEFC403 (07:09:14.984 BST Mon Apr 20 2009)
clock offset is 1.5630 msec, root delay is 66.79 msec
root dispersion is 30.56 msec, peer dispersion is 1.95 msec

Sorry, but my router doesn't sync the time.
Cisco IOS Software, C870 Software (C870-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T, REL
EASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
The config is:
scheduler max-task-time 5000
sntp server 192.53.103.108
sntp server 192.53.103.104
sntp server 192.53.103.103
sntp source-interface Dialer0
I need it because I use
time-range internet-allg
periodic daily 16:00 to 20:00
periodic Saturday 20:00 to 22:00
periodic Friday 20:00 to 22:00
and every time I reboot the router the date is set to Feb 2002 and the time is I think 2 a clock.
any ideas ?

Here's what I use:
A list of the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) time servers that are available on the Internet
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262680
NOTE: Although the link contains SNTP sources, I have used the same information for NTP successfully.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information, but it's the same issue. When I reboot the router the year is 2002 and no time-sync will come up.
please help

Carsten,
The problem you are having is that you are using a DNS name that needs to be resolved by a DNS server but as you said, the internet isn't up until dialer0 is up.
What you need to do is replace the DNS name with the IP address, by pinging your NTP server, it came back with this IP address (131.234.137.23). Use the IP address on the configuration instead of the name (ntp server 131.234.137.23) and let us know how it works out.
