I defined hardware conference bridge resources in a voice gateway, my question is do I had to define transcoding resources in the voice gateway to establish a conference with two ip-phones in the same LAN (g711 region) and one ip phone at a remote site ( g729 region).?.

HW CFB already includes necessary XCODING if you defined several codecs under the dspfarm, if you only defined 1 codec then yes, XCODER is required

read the media resources chapter of SRND to understand all of this

ok, if it is a mixed mode conference do I had to use the

dspfarm confbridge maximum mixed-mode sessions ...

command ?.

Thanks.

RJB

that's really old command, you only need to configure the codecs under dspfarm config to enable all of them to be used

The router is an 2621XM with 12.4 IOS and its the only syntax that its accept.

thanks.

Hi fiend, when you have PVDM (show diag or inventory), you need to configure the xcodec and conf resources such as:

Gateway#configure terminal

Gateway(config)#dspfarm transcoder maximum sessions 12

Gateway(config)#dspfarm confbridge maximum sessions 3

(in CCM add the resource as CISCO IOS MTP/CONFER BRIDGE)

And when you have PVDM2 (show diag or inventory), you need to configure the xcodec and conf resources using dspfarm profiles:

dspfarm profile 111 transcode

description transcode profile 111

codec g711ulaw

codec g711alaw

codec g729ar8

codec g729abr8

codec gsmfr

codec g729r8

maximum sessions 20

associate application SCCP

(in CCM add the resorce as CISCO IOS ENHANCED MTP/CONFER BRIDGE)

I attach two nice documents.

All the best

David.

Thanks David.

The 2621xm router with an NM-HDV is loaded with 5 x PDVM-12. In the documentation said this configuration give me 60 XCODE sessions and/or 15 Conference sessions.

By default when I type the dspfarm confbridge maximum sessions ? show me only 0.

After change the complexity to medium now after type ? it show me 6.

Where all the dsp resources are?

Thanks.

Hi friend, do you have a voice card (E1/T1, FXS or FXO) installed on you router?

Best regards.

David

the router has a e1 voice card only.

I figure out that the e1 card is consuming some dsp resources to process the pstn calls.
