Guys,
I have a 1720 router and we just got a T1 line to our remote site. However, when i plug my T1 card in my router, it is showing up as interface Ethernet0. Shouldnt it be showing up as a serial interface and not ethernet?
WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 is the model number for the card.
NOTE: On the front of the card right under the port, it should say T1 DSU/CSU. However, mine says 10 Baset.

Ok i think i am going to answer my own question...
The card I received is a 10BaseT card and the card i should have received is a T1 DSU/CSU card.
The problem is the 10BaseT card is transferring at 10 times the speed of the T1 card, in which is why its not showing up as a serial interface.
In short. 10BaseT is 802.5
T1 is 802.3
Can someone tell me if i am losing my mind, or did i actually answer my own question?

Other than the fact that 802.5 is NOT 10BaseT and that 802.3 is NOT T1, you have pretty much answered your own question. The card says Ethernet on its faceplate and it shows up as Ethernet in the config. So it is NOT a serial card. The protocol for Ethernet is significantly different from serial protocols, and the voltages on the pins of Ethernet are significantly different from the voltages of serial, and (as you note) the transmission speeds of Ethernet are significantly faster than serial.

I saw this chart on the net last night, and thats why i responded to my post. So i guess i was sent the wrong card. :( Atleast i caught that before i got too many people involved. I just cant believe i missed looking at the label on the card before.
