I am finding throughout our network that there are duplicate routes with different next hops..
example
ip route 157.171.1.0 255.255.255.0 157.171.10.1
ip route 157.171.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.1.1
there does not seem to be an issue that I can see but should one of these routes be removed or is ok ? not sure what this is accomplishing..

"but should one of these routes be removed or is ok ?"
Difficult to say without knowing the topology. The router should use both static routes assuming they have the same AD altho if the router has more specific routes for all destinations then it will only fallback to these for unknown networks.

Hello Jay,
first of all I would investigate to see if you can reach the nexthop ip addresses.
This could help you to find old configuration items (if any).
However, this config is possible and can be used.
When everything is correct the meaning of this config is to perform load balancing towards net 157.171.1.0/24 using the two next hops.
Hope to help
Giuseppe
