PA-MC-8TE1+ card

Hi guys,

I am stuck till yesterday with a new purchase of a 7200 router with a pa-mc_8te1+ card. After starting the router, i have the alarm on the card red and the enable led green.I am not sure if this state is ok as there's at the moment any connection on the e1 ports.

Is That red alarm right ?

Also, i asked to be delivered with a service provider software. But got this one ..."c7200-is-mz.122-15.T14.bin". a Service provider image should be c7200-p..." isn't it?

You are correct, Service Provider image is c7200-p-mz.122-15.T14.bin - your current image is just IP Plus.

As for the module, based on the show diag output - it looks to be in good status. I wouldn't be concerned about the LED status until you plug the E1.

I need to make sure now that the card is ok before signing the order document. I don't have any e1 line at the moment to test on. any idea about how to be sure that the card is ok? is it a normal operation mode for the e1 ports to have the alarm led red before plugging a e1 line?

make sure you configure the card type:

It won't show in the config until

you configure the card type

Specify whether the card is to be used as T1 or E1 by using the card type command in

configuration mode.

The example below sets the card in slot 1 to T1:

Router(config)# card type t1 1

The example below sets the card in slot 1 to E1:

Router(config)# card type e1 1

Thanks for the info.

I've configured the card type (e1) already and performed a hard loopback plug test and found everything ok(ping was successful).

I still have the alarm red led on though.
