Shortening Local Numbers

Unanswered Question
Apr 22nd, 2009

My CCM is setup at present to use numbers in the format 404****. I connect to other CCMs which use 405, 406 etc etc.

I want to be able to set my phones so they just use the **** part locally, and then add the 404 when using external gateways.

Is this possible, and if so can someone guide me in the right direction please.

I have this problem too.

Sure, you need to configure translation patters to match the last 4 digits and prefix the 404, so assume the extensions begin with 2, you would create a TP 2XXX in partition reachable by the phones that dial it, the TP will prefix 404 and that's it.

Keep in mind that any time you deal with variable length dial plan you need to ensure there is no overlaps, for example if you have an extension such as 405X, and a user attempts to call it it will match both the TP as well as the route to 405 switch, you will end up with an interdigit timeout.
