OSPF question

Hi all,

I'm not very familiar with ospf, but I something happened to me that made me go hmmm... I have one dmz switch peering with a firewall - running ospf - on the dmz switch I turn cdp on and then I lost ospf peering with the firewall. I didn't know turning cdp will cause ospf to bounced. Has anyone else experienced the same? is ospf that sensitive to changes?

Cheers!!!

Turning CDP can, at times, cause the interface to reset so perhaps that's the reason you lost OSPF adjacency.

Hello Mauricio,

it is more likely that it is the firewall that doesn't like CDP it is absolutely possible to run CDP and OSPF on the same link.

usually firewalls including Cisco PIX don't support CDP.

So I would suggest you to disable CDP on link because it is probably useless.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
