VPN Too Slow

Hi

I have established a VPN Lan to Lan connection between my office and a remote peer. The connection is used for ftp and files have been flowing through smoothly. Recently the connection became very slow and we suspected the Server which was very old and replaced it. This did not improve the speed so we asked the service provider to give us Prime Bandwidth which is faster. After switching to the IP Address on the Prime Link, the connection became even slower. We then suspected that since the VPN tunnel is established between the two peers using normal bandwidth which is not very fast, then this might be the cause of the slowness. Please help to resolve, files are piling up.

Use the ping command to check the network or find whether the application server is reachable from your network. It can be a problem with the maximum segment size (MSS) for transient packets that traverse a router or PIX/ASA device, specifically TCP segments with the SYN bit set. Change the MSS Value in the Outside Interface (Tunnel End Interface) of the Router.
