Is opening port 4697 ok/secure? Using ASA 5520. It is the only port that will allow me to connect, remotely, to my SQL server via SQL Server Management Studio. I tried 1433 & 1434, but to know avail.
TIA

You can open 4697 if that's the only one that will work. Keep in mind that any port you open allows for an attacker a door into your network. Your SQL server needs to have the latest security patches installed, locked down, etc.
