802.11a & MAR3200

Good morning! I hope that there is a Cisco wireless specialist able to help me. First question: I know that the 802.11a frequencies supported by 1240AG Access Points are:

2,412 to 2,472 GHz (13 channels)

5,15 to 5,35 GHz (8 channels)

5,470 to 5,725 MHz (11 channels)

So I can read in the 1240AG datasheet.

My question is: for 3205 WMIC, 802.11 WMIC for 3200MAR, which are the frequencies supported? Are the same? In affermative case, can I use this card only in client configuration? Because seems that Cisco can't sell the 3205 WMIC for a problem related a DFS changes. But I want to use the MAR3200 like a client, not like an AP. Please, i need urgently your answers.

Thanks in advance. Best regards. Alberto

This supports DFS: C3205WMIC-A-K9

I would not know why Cisco would not sell this to you unless it is not going to be used in North America.

Thanks for your answer. I have already seen the bulletin above: the problem is that starting to 1 April Cisco blocked the sell of the 3205 card because isn't compliant a new ETSI requirements, more specifically the EN 301893 v. 1.5.1 and 1.6.1 (related to DFS working). I would know if Cisco forecasts a solution, a new IOS release for 3205 WMIC or other

Best regards

I would believe that they will eventually come out with one. We have some clients running the one for North America. The best thing to do is speak with your local SE as he or she can let you know when they will be available. I can't see how they wouldn't have one.

I just saw this:

Upgrade Paths

Cisco is pleased to announce the availability of a new Cisco 3205 WMIC for the European and North American markets. The new product introduction is the first time a 5-GHz WMIC for the Cisco 3200 will be supported in North America.

European customers have had the opportunity to order a 5-GHz WMIC prior to the North American market. The current product IDs available in Europe today are the C3205WMIC-K9 and C3205WMIC-TP-K9.

European regulations mandate that all 802.11a/h products shipping into Europe on or after April 1, 2008, must be compliant with European Telecommunications Standardization Institute specification EN 301893 v1.3.1 for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS 1.3.1).

The C3205WMIC-K9 and C3205WMIC-TP-K9 products do not support DFS 1.3.1 compliance regulations. Therefore, the recommended replacement for the C3205WMIC-K9 product is the new C3205WMIC-E-K9 (5-GHz WMIC without thermal plates). The replacement for C3205WMIC-TP-K9 is C3205WMIC-TPEK9 (5-GHz WMIC with thermal plates).

Please visit the End-of-Sale Announcement for the C3205WMIC-K9 and C3205WMIC-TP-K9 product IDs: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps272/prod_eol_notices_list.html

Dear friend, unfortunately, as I written before, the problem is with specification EN 301893 v1.5.1 and 1.6.1.

I don't know how Cisco will manage the problem with 3205 WMICs already selled. I know, now, that the selling of this card is blocked. Like has said the Cisco account in Italy. And like have said to the Cisco account the BU Cisco that treats wireless products. In fact, this problem is stopping the rollout of a projet that I'm working

Best regards

Yeah... just reading that. Looks like it might be a while since they have 1.6.1 to deal with too.
