Hi all,
are 64 byte frames ok, is it anything smaller that switches will not forward as they are runts ?

That's the minimum valid message size required by the IEEE 802.3 specification. I don't think there is any payload in a frame that small? These days with faster links I think the idea is to have larger frames not smaller frames.

will switches drop frames smaller than 64 bytes then ?

Hello Carl,
if an IP packet of size 40 bytes has to be sent the resulting frame is 64 bytes and zero padding is added to reach the minimum size.
if in the net frames smaller then 64 bytes are detected they are discarded and clasified as runts
Hope to help
