Upgrading from 6.x to 7.x on new Hardware

What would be involved with this process? Ive done upgrades from 4.x to 5,6.x installs and had it use the DMA output. Is it the same process when upgrading 6.x to 7.x when using new hardware? Or do i have to upgrade the old hardware to 7.x then create a backup and restore it on the new?

this would be like upgrading from windows to windows, same version required.

DMA is a term that only applies when doing windows to linux.

either upgrade old server to 7 and take DRS to new server with fresh install

OR

install same old version on new server, DRS restore and then upgrade to 7

both lead to the same
