CAB-HD8-ASYNC Versus CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC

The Question is so simple: Is the CAB-HD8-ASYNC cable a rolled cable just like the CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC cable - or not!. I simply cannot find the answer (or pinouts) of the CAB-HD8-ASYNC).

They look the same. Stonewall cable is an excellent 3rd party cable supplier. They have them listed both as RS-232, 68 pin, RJ45. I would give them a call and ask their engineering dept.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I think, though, that they may have done a little too much copy and paste. 'HD' in CAB-HD8-ASYNC' is supposed to mean 'High Density'. And this means another 'footprint' than the CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC cable, in my understading of it. Ok, I can live with that. However, I really need to know if this CAB-HD8-ASYNC cable (for the HWIC-xxA modules) is 'rolled' like the older one for the NM-xx modules (CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC).

Or not 'rolled' - e.g. for connection of other console interfaces than Cisco (and compatibles like Nokia consoles).

It is designed to go from Cisco terminal servers to other Cisco gear, so maintains the same pinout as the CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC. Any existing RJ-45 to console adapters you have for the older octal cables should continue to work with the HD octals.
