enable controller e1 and serial 0/0 on cisco 1841

i am unable to configure controller e1 interface on a new cisco 1841 router.


i am trying to configure a serial interface but the option is not there too.


IOS - Version 12.4(15)T7


what could be the reason ?

i do not see the controller options there.

Did you check the IOS which is present in router supports controller command.


Can you send us show run output.

don't you first have to enable the card?


card type e1 0 0 (if it's in slot 0/0)

managed to solve the problem after i add


card type e1 0 0


then the controller option appears


controller e1 0/0/0.


didnt know that i need the card type option.

yes indeed, as I thought (see above)


If you insert for example a VWIC, you first need to enable the card
