Hi,

I have 2 Wireless bridge connected between each other and the primary Wireless interface goes down very often, which cause loss of connectivity and the backup as well not working as expected.

Could anyone tell me is this the issue with the Radio interface which is causin the wireless connectivity to go down? or with the AP itself?

logs:-

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up

%DOT11-4-UPLINK_DOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, parent lost: Too many retries

%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down

%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up

%DOT11-4-UPLINK_DOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, parent lost: Too many retries

%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down.

Any help on this would be highly appriciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sum

Could just be a signal strength issue. Try placing your root bridge into install-mode:

int dot0

station-role install root bridge

Then check the log and you should see the signal strength. You want to see better than -70, meaning -69, -68, etc.

Placing the bridge into install-mode will drop the connections briefly, so you might want to do it after-hours.

Make sure you have the distance command defined under the root bridge's radio interface.

Hi,

Can you suggest What distance cmd will have effect on this issue?

Ina

The distance command will allow the bridge to properly time communication by taking into account the time it takes to traverse the distance between bridges. This command isn't needed if the bridges are less than a kilometer apart.

It's a good suggestion to try that, because if the bridges are far apart then the communication might occasionally get off and break the link.

Did you try install mode?

had the same issue 1240 AG root to non-root bridge using 13.5dbi yagi < 1km distance

turns out I had the required connection speed on the G radio interface too high ( 36MBs)

backed the required down to 5 leaving all higher speeds enabled

cured the issue.
