Hi all, when we talk about mirroring a whole vlan, are we only seeing the broadcasts for the vlan, or the whole traffic between each and everyport in that vlan ?

you could do mirroring either by Port-based (PSPAN) or VLAN-based (VSPAN). Here's a good read and explanation from Cisco.com:

what would the vspan be used for? would I see traffic flows for every port on that vlan, or just the broadcasts ?
