Hi all
I have to migrate a site from Nortel to Cisco, we are having some cat 6500's , I have just been reading something about internal vlans on the cat 6500.
we use vlan 1010 to 1016 for our devices, however I believe these are used internally on the switch.
What can I do to get around this ?

hello Carl,
the range 1006-1024 is used in CatOS switches.
if your C6500s run IOS you should be fine.
For more safety because end user devices are not aware of the vlan-id you can map these two to different values with no problems.
This is important if you are planning to use VTP that cannot propagate information about vlans in extended range (1006-4094) (actually only vtp mode transparent allows to use these vlans on IOS based switches)
Hope to help
Giuseppe

so, will I be able to create say vlan 1016 without any issue, or will I have to use the extended keyword after it ?
