Cisco Security Manager running on a VMWare server with 4 gigs RAM, the appropriate amount of disk and swap space.

When I try and add a device I received the following error:

Failed to start Job.

The Backend Server is not ready or has not been started

Group /VMS-BackEnd-Group does not contain any worker.

at com.cisco.nm.vms.task.dist.TaskThread.run(TaskThread.java:36)

I went under the hood and looked at the CiscoWorks. Under the Process Management it says next to CmfDbMonitor that the Administrator has shut down this server.

I tried restarting the server but receive the same error.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hello,

Any answer so far to this problem?

I face a similar issue on a CSM 3.3.1 service pack-1 build on VMware platform.

This is the error we receive:

Failed to start Job.

The backend service has a status of Transient Terminated when you check its status in CiscoWorks part of CSM via a web browser.

Thanks!

Olivier

  • Cisco Employee,

Hello,

Has the hostname of the server been changed recently? If so, try running the CSCOpx\bin\hostnamechange.pl script and then restart the Cisco Security Manager Daemon Manager service to see if that resolves the issue.

Hope that helps.
