catalyst 4500 deferred ios image

Hi

We recently found out that we're running a "deferred" ios image on our 4500 access switches. I am wondering what this means and if it's a serious matter. we haven't had problems as far as I know. Should we migrate from a deferred image asap or can we stay with it as long as we don't see any major problems. Someone please explain.

Thanks

From Cisco IOS doc -

"DF stands for "Deferred." DF releases are not available for downloading because of known defects. These should not be installed on your router."

Basically it's best not to use a deferred release. They have been removed for a reason and you would struggle to get support using such an image.

Thanks for your answer. I have a couple more questions;

- Does Cisco list all DF images somewhere?

- Is it possible to subscrive to e-mail alerts concerning DF images?

Thanks
