Hi all, I wish to migrate a site to some cat 6500 from nortel passport, the passport has about 40 vrrp groups configured, 1 for each vlan, they are all active on one router. they range from 1000 to 1010 for the group numbers , my question is how can I do this on the cat 6500, can I use these same group numbers for smooth migration ?

VRRP is an open standard meant to allow different vendors to be involved. RFC3768 & 2338 cover the specifics.

To enable VRRP, use the vrrp command in configuration mode. Use the no form of the command to revert to the factory defaults or to negate a command.

vrrp ipv4-vr-group-number
