AIM-CUE and CompactFlash memory

Hi guys,

I want to buy an AIM-CUE module for a Cisco 2851 router. This module needs the 1GB compact flash card (AIM-CUE-1GBCF=) to work with version 7.X. The Cisco 1GB flash card is pretty expensive, does anyone of you have experience if other CF cards work as well?

At another forum I red that the Cisco software checks on sectors (needs to be 2001888).

I am having a 1 GB flash card (SANDISK Extreme III) on spare. This card works OK in a 3845 router and is having the correct number of sectors:

Router# show flash: all

No files on device

1024540672 bytes available (0 bytes used)

Thanks in advance,

I've heard you can put other flash cards in there, but I haven't tried it.

Hello,

I have used other flash cards in the past, and havent had any issues with it. This is both for the compact flash in the CUE, as well as the compact flash in the router.

Hope that helped, if so please rate.

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for your answer, I will try it!

hi, did you find a replacement CF card that worked?

I need to find a replacement card ASAP.

Thanks

As indicated above, any decent brand should work. Of course ideally you want only class 6 devices.

Thanks Paolo.

I've tested the SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 1GB.

This does not appear to be supported. I receive the following error upon bootup of the AIM-CUE after completing the boot helper software installation:

Not a cisco supported CF. Please use cisco supported CF and reinstall the softw

are.

System Halted.

Any suggestions?

Hi All,

I'm having the same problem. I had a Cisco CF 1GB card but it's stopped working and I'm loathed to spend a couple of hundred pounds to replace it. Can anyone either recommend an actual make and model of CF card that works with an AIM module or suggest how to change the attributes so it can work.

Thanks

Dave

It's not possible to change the attributes of a CF card, they're hard coded at the manufacturing stage.

I resorted to a cheap replacement on e-bay to resolve this issue.

And what it was so the CUE believed it's a Cisco one ?
