Doubt about firmware

Hi Guys,

I have the following doubt: We have the IP Phone 7940 that will be used in scenario that don't will have CallManager and work with SIP. My questions is: It's necessary to do the dowlnload a specific firware to work SIP? If answer is true, there is any procedure to do the download the firmware version?

procedure is go cisco.com and look for ip phones, download software and look for the latest version, google has a lot of more resources for ip phones 7940/7960 with no-callmanger

and non-callmanager (use cisco 7960 + sip + asterisk)

The download is not the problem. My problem is who transfer the file to IP Phone. There are any procedure?
