Inbound SIP Calls Fail via CUBE

Unanswered Question
May 4th, 2009

Hello,

outbound calls to the SIP provider work fine but inbound calls fail after the call is picked up. The receiver of the call sends a RTP stream, and the pstn side only hears ringing then fast busy.

Could this be a code negation problem or a fast start early offer problem?

call flow is PSTN->sbc(SIP)->CUBE->CUCM6.1(h323)->SCCP

If your inbound and outbound dial peer both don't have codec transparent that may cause problems. Try putting codec transparent on the outgoing and incoming dial peer.

Otherwise it may be something else region-related in CUCM, but it sounds like codec problems.

I changed the config to force g711u and no differnce.

the called phone rings and starts a RTP stream to the CUBE but the calling set just rings 3 time and then goes busy. If this was a region or CAC problem the phones would never ring.

I'm leaning towards a Fast-start early offer problem.

My Cube sends a error 500 internal server error to SBC and there are debug errors of no SDP message body found in Body.

Hi Trent,

If the ringback is generated locally and the user picks up after 3 rings, then it can still be a codec issue.

(Sort of like when you call a voicemail system from a G729 region and there's no transcoder. The IP phone will ring, but will disconnect on the CFNA timer)

You would need to post more details to make any sense of the 500 error.
