CSS11050 - upgrading license - reboot process

I have a pair of CSS11050. One device is active, second device passive. Both are running 6.10 Build 405. I have the Enhanced Security feature set license file from Cisco for each device. My original thoughts on the upgrade license process is as follows:

install license on passive device

reboot

install license on active device

reboot

When I reboot the active device, will it automatically failover to the passive device? Or is there a manual command I have to type in first? I know these are old devices and EOL.

Just curious if anyone else has experience with this model.

After rebooting the active, the standby needs to first detect that it is down before it takes over.

I would suggest to force failover and then reboot.

You could simply increase the priority of the standby assuming you have configured preempt.

There is also a command 'redundancy force-master'.

Your plan sounds good.
