H323 Gatewa "IP address" status.....

When displaying a built H323 gateway (in CUCM 6.1), when the IP address shows "unknown" does that mean that the IP address defined for that H323 gateway has not responded to H323 keep-alives?

I'm trying to bring up an H323 connection to an Avaya S8500 (via IP); the H323 GW is actually the S8500, but it shows a status where the IP address is "unknown". I can PING the end-point.

Thoughts?

For an H323 gateway it is more like a trunk. There is no registration, and 'Unknown' is the normal state.

This is normal, and is expected.
