CCIE R&S Lab Topology

Unanswered Question
May 4th, 2009

Hi All,

I am ramping up my studies for the R&S Lab. Does any one know the current R&S topology? Specifically with the switches. I know it was two 3550's & two 3560's, but I hear it may now be four 3560's. Also does anyone know if the are the POE model or not?

Thanks!

Brandon

I have this problem too.

3550s will be phased out mid-October, with version 4 of the R&S lab; until then there are both 3550s and 3560s. Don't know about PoE, but what would it be used for anyways in R&S?

So if you were not planning on taking your lab until sometime in the winter would you start using four 3560's in your lab?

Thanks

Yes, if you have enough budget... Otherwise you can do most of the stuff with cheaper 3550s, except IPv6 and private VLANs. QoS is different too, so I advise to have at least one 3560.

The word (according to some on Group Study) is Cisco will be changing the R&S lab very soon (we are over-due for change). Some are saying Cisco will be announcing this today. I am looking for them to add some light MPLS and a little more IPv6 stuff.
